Autumn/Winter 2010: Four Hot Looks, For The Cold Months

The summer of love may have come and gone, but the autumn/winter collection this year draws inspiration from it. Through the use of high waist and wide leg trousers paired with silky blouses, maxi dresses with retro patterns and fur jackets you can achieve a look that is sensationally seventies.

Fur is a hot trend this season and works perfectly with this nod to nostalgia.
The 50s was the decade of timeless elegance and sophisticated glamour. Bosoms and cinched waists, this look is all about emphasising the female form. Be proud of that hour glass figure and accentuate it.

Accessorise with framed handbags and head bands with neat hair. Soft, delicate make up will complete the look perfectly.
This season has undoubtedly been influenced by society's obsession with all things vampiric, given the gothic undercurrent in many featured designs. Leather and lace are synonymous with seduction and pull of the vampire lust and combined with tailored jackets with military detailing and you have one of this seasons biggest trends. Contrast lace and sheer fabrics with crisp tailored lines and knee high boots, and complete with dark smoky make-up.

Even die hard city slickers are looking towards the country this season, as silk is used to contrast with furs and heritage fabrics such as tweed, plaid and corduroy. Think layers of juxtaposed textures and fabrics to achieve this country manor meets country farm look, for when the weather calls for heat as well as chic.

  4. Thank you Sharron and Dempsey. I think my favourite is the 50s look, it was/is so effortlessly feminine!

I agree Kirsty, the trousers are fantastic. I'm loving all the hot trends this season to be honest with you, I'm not generally a fur/faux-fur fan but worn with the right outfit I think it can look good.
